We are very lucky in the sport of Hyrox.
We have a huge number of inspiring athletes keen to motivate and support people new to the sport and those of us wanting to become more competitive.
Today we have a list of 13 Hyrox Athletes we think you should be following on social media.
This list is in no specific order and we’ve tried our best to give a good variety of top-level athletes who offer a mixture of workouts, training and mindset advice, motivational content, and general entertainment.
We’ve also tried only to include athletes who post fairly regularly and primarily about Hyrox. There are so many athletes we follow, and think you should follow too, that this list could have been 100+, but we thought we’d cap it at 13 and then offer you the comments section to tell us who we’ve left out.
Expect a sequel!
James Muscart (JayFit PT)
James has a strong Triathlon background and has completed 4 IronMans. He is one of the best British Hyrox Pros and well-known in the UK scene for his friendly personality and willingness to give pretty much any functional fitness competition a shot (probably winning it!). Hyrox is his main focus though and he has his eyes firmly set on being the next Brit to break into the Elite 15.
James is one the first high-level Hyrox athletes to embrace YouTube. Although he posts regularly on Instagram too, the best place to find workouts and advice from James is through his YouTube channel where you’ll find videos of him training with elite Hyrox athletes, giving tips on how best to pull a sled, explaining how to peak for race day, and working out Hyrox-style in his local commercial gym!
I’ve found all of the videos James has put out interesting. Whether they are more educational-style or more vlogger style, James has become a solid YouTuber. If you enjoy content from the likes of CrossFit’s TeamRichey then his channel is certain to appeal.
Oh, if you want a recommendation on where to start: I’m hugely excited for the new series he has just launched called: “Road To The World Championships” that will see regular videos following the training James is doing leading up to Manchester.

Jade Skillen
Jade Skillen was the first Hyrox athlete I started following on social media.
Jade has a friendly, bubbly, motivating personality that grabs your full attention. All of her content is super slick and clearly well thought out.
This combination means Jade’s content is truly second to none and it’s clear to see why she is the UK’s Hyrox Master Trainer. If you want to learn how to pull a sled or throw a wallball or have a detailed explanation on which style of burpee broad jump is most efficient, then Jade will have a clear and concise video on it. What I’ve found really useful is for UK races Jade will do a behind-the-scenes tour of the venue the night before to give competitors an overview of the event’s layout.
For those who have done a Hyrox and are looking to improve, Jade goes much deeper than covering standards and event layouts… If you want to know which shoes she’d recommend to balance being able to push a sled and run your best 1000m intervals or what your primary training focus should be depending on which point of the season you’re in then she has videos on that too!
It’s not just educational content either, Jade is a competitor herself and regularly posts up spicy workouts or more specific workouts with a certain goal. These could be running pyramids or strength endurance pieces or high-rep volume work. Jade has even put out a few ‘day in the life’ style vlogs on YouTube that I really hope she picks back up one day!

Markus Frison
Markus is a super cool guy with a really interesting sporting history that is a blend of national-level cycling and national-level powerlifting.
As a result, he has been exposed to many different types of coaching and training styles in his native Germany. And, in addition to his goals of becoming the best athlete he can be, is keen to educate others on the methods of training that saw him win the Hyrox Virtual Championships and qualify him to the Hyrox Elite 15.
Markus did a whole series of videos going over the specific movements and how to master each one of them that will be useful to any Hyrox athlete. There are also a lot of more specific posts such as: How can you build to an unbroken farmer carry? How much should you be running if it’s a weakness holding you back? How should you schedule your training? And many more besides.
Being an athlete himself, Markus will regularly share workouts he is doing and workouts he has his athletes doing too. What I’ve found interesting is recently he has been covering his return to training after a long-running injury and brutal bout of Covid. This is sure to be useful to anyone who has been through, or is going through, anything similar.

Terra Jackson
Terra Jackson had an incredible 2022. She took 1st place in Deka Fit, 1st place in Deka Strong, and 3rd place in the Deka Mile. She took 6th place in the Hyrox World Championships in May and looked even stronger when she took 1st place in the Women’s Pro division at Hyrox Madrid, with the 2nd place finisher coming in over 5 minutes later!
There’s a few reasons I like following Terra.
First off, she posts workouts almost daily. So, if you want to see what one of the most elite athletes in our sport is doing then this is a fascinating insight. Often, she’ll even post results up, so you have something to aim for (and probably miss – but at least you know where you’ll need to be if you want to get anywhere near the elites!).
The second reason is that Terra posts a lot of prehab/rehab exercises to keep runners/OCR/Hybrid athletes healthy. Anyone involved in any of the Hyrox Facebook Groups will be all-too-familiar with the ‘Ticket for sale due to injury’ posts. One of the biggest battles athletes have is keeping themselves healthy and free from injury – stealing a caption from one of here Instagram posts, athletes need to ‘train hard, recover hard!’

Dylan Scott
Under Armour sells a shirt that reads, “hardest worker in the room.” It’s one of those Dwayne ‘The Rock’ John colabs. No one in Dylan Scott’s gym can even think about picking one up…
Dylan is a phenomenal runner. He’s right up there with the best in Hyrox and hybrid racing. However, it’s his insane work ethic and tolerance of training load that has reached legendary status in the community.
When it comes to the stations, Dylan may not have the raw strength or Crossfitting experience that some have, but the volume and horrific workouts he puts his body through with unbelievable regularity has him breezing through them come race day.
I think I enjoy following Dylan so much, because not only is it impressive to see what it is he is doing, but it’s also very humbling. I think, sometimes, we forget just how hard some people work for what they want. Dylan reminds me every day that I definitely ‘could’ work harder.
I would also add that Dylan is a super-nice guy. Anytime I have messaged him he has offered me a friendly/helpful response.

Megan Jacoby
Megan Jacoby burst onto the Hyrox scene when in only her second ever race she broke the female Pro Hyrox Record. Hitting a time of 1:01:56 and making it clear she thought she could go faster.
She had everyone’s speculation that we’ll see a sub-60 from a woman in the Hyrox Pro division during 2023 turn to belief. If that wasn’t enough, Megan took the title of the Women’s 2022 Deka Mile World Champion a few weeks later.
Megan is another athlete, like Terra Jackson, who shares her workouts on a regular basis. Not only does she share the WODs, but she’ll also share her Erg splits, Sled workouts, strength sets and the weights she uses too. For me, as a fan, this is fascinating as it gives you a real insight into where the best of the best stand in terms of their Erg abilities, lifting numbers and so on.
I would add that Megan is also just a really nice person and does a lot to push and inspire other athletes; women especially.

Tiago Lousa
I see Tiago as a leader and his social media really does a great job at giving aspiring Hyrox athletes direction.
Tiago may not post quite as regularly as some others on this list, but what he does post is gold. He has some great content about ‘common mistakes many athletes make’ and a whole series about ‘what makes a high performance athlete’ that only a long-time coach and athlete could put together so brilliantly. These are long posts that allow you to assess yourself and your approach to training – hopefully leaving you a better athlete once you’ve read through them.
More recently, Tiago has started posting some of his own workouts leading up to the European Championships. If you’re keen to give elite-level workouts a go, he has some spicy Rowing Intervals and Compromised Running Intervals!

Dena Hogan
Athlete, Coach, CEO of BLDR UK, Integral part of Team Myzone, Head of probably Ireland’s Fittest Family… Dana lives a varied, hectic life. Her Instagram gives a great view of how she fits everything in whilst ensuring she and everyone around her has a great time doing it.
For those who don’t know Dana Hogan, her and her husband (Tom Hogan) have been smashing it on the UK/EU scene for a good few years now. Whether they show up as a team or individuals, they come to win. Both Dana and Tom qualified for the Elite 15 in 2022 and looked scarily relaxed when they took first place in the Mixed Doubles at the Hyrox’s Birmingham event a few months back too.
I’ve come to really appreciate seeing Dana grinding away at becoming the best athlete she can be. She openly says she is not the most talented athlete, but strives to be the hardest working and that really shows. Being a smaller athlete with an endurance background, it’s inspiring to see how much strength she has put on and how she grinds through the tough functional workouts her husband programs for her.

Hunter McIntyre
Hunter is probably the most well-known athlete in Hyrox/OCR and it’s for a number of reasons.
Firstly, Hunter is the reigning Hyrox World Champion and when he is at his best he looks unbeatable. Since retiring, however, Hunter has launched ‘HAOS’, which is his coaching program, and is keen to share his training philosophy and station ‘hacks’ with the community.
Hunter’s content varies a lot between the incredibly useful, the inspiring (after taking on an IronMan, he is now trying to get into the Olympics by picking up a sport he’d not even tried until a few months ago), and the silly.
Hunter is quite a controversial figure in the Hybrid/Functional world and that’s because he’s an outlier. Whereas many athletes in this space are known for their humble natures, Hunter will tell anyone and everyone that he is the best at what he does and could destroy all challengers.
All that said, whereas many think of Hunter as simply gifted, what I’ve come to appreciate through his Instagram posts that cover the methodology of his training is that he is a real student of sports performance. He has spent hours and hours researching elite athletes in other sports, and proved himself a true innovator by adapting their training approaches to OCR/Hyrox and now to his coaching philosophy too.

Camilla Massa
Camilla is an inspiring person who balances being a mum with being an Elite 15 Hyrox athlete.
If you ever find yourself making excuses about being too busy to workout, then following someone like Camilla can be a real reality check. If she can do it: so can you!
I really enjoy the workouts Camilla posts up on her Instagram. They’re a great mixture of fun WODs, running progressions, and Hyrox specific station work. Most feature a video so that you can see the sort of pace and movement quality Camilla has during the workout and can do your best to replicate (good luck with that!).

Ciaran Parkinson
An all round great guy, Ciaran Parkinson is another Brit who will be pushing for an Elite 15 spot over the next year or so.
Ciaran took his time building himself up in the Open division. His running is just ridiculously good, but he needed work on his strength. His Instagram over the past year was basically a log on how he went about achieving this. What’s incredible is that in his first Pro Event of the season, Ciaran smashed all expectations by setting a time of 01:03:14.
Ciaran is a successful Head Coach at a gym in the UK and has just launched his own Hyrox coaching company ‘Fit4Rox’ too. As a result, his feed has grown in variety and is now an enjoyable mixture of his own training and the training he dishes out to his clients.
More recently, Ciaran has been putting out his ‘top tips’ for each of the Hyrox Stations and I’ve found many of these to be really useful. He also has a ‘Friday Mindset’ feature that looks at how you can approach training and race day in a more positive way.

Lauren Rantala
Lauren (and her partner, Marc) have a really inspiring story that involves overcoming alcoholism to become a successful businessperson and Hyrox World Champion.
Today, Lauren’s social media is used to promote the work she does as the US HYROX Gym Partnerships Manager. This includes an insiders look at the many Hyrox Workshops going on around the US, but also Hyrox America’s Workout Of The Week. These are always fun, but brutal workouts especially designed by Hyrox staff to challenge both new and experienced athletes on a weekly basis. Lauren also posts her own workouts up, often with detailed explanations as to why she programmed them the way she did.
There’s plenty of reasons to follow Lauren – I think the mixture of inspirational content, insider views of the Hyrox world, and regular stream of challenging workouts means there’s something for everyone.

James Kelly
James exploded onto the scene when he decided he wanted to promote his Hybrid Coaching business, so flew over to the UK from Australia and took first place in dominant fashion during his Hyrox debut.
No one could quite believe that someone had rolled up to their first ever Hyrox and won the Pro event with a sub-60 time.
James has a really interesting training style and philosophy. He has been ‘Hybrid Training’ for a long time, which is similar to CrossFit in many ways, but has a much bigger emphasis on extended-durations of conditioning work. He posts many challenging workouts for aspiring Hyrox athletes to try out, giving reasons behind them, and generally sharing his unique approach to training.
As an athlete, I’ve found a lot of benefit in the mindset pieces James posts and they perhaps give insight into how he rocked up at Birmingham and did what he did.
Having done a few of his staple workouts, such as the running and ERG-focused EMOMs, I can confirm they’re brutal but incredibly useful for bumping your capacity!
